THE BEST DAM PLACE!
When completed in 1910, Buffalo Bill Dam was one of the first concrete arch dams built in the United States. At 325 feet high, it was also the highest dam in the world at the time.
As part of the Shoshone Project, the dam irrigates more than 93,000 acres where principal crops are beans, alfalfa, oats, barley, and sugar beets.
The dam, a structure so significant, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places within the first five years of the register’s creation.
Walk through our interpretive areas to learn about the benefit of the dam for the Big Horn Basin area. View working models, videos, as well as native animal taxidermy.
